Description:
The second course in the series consists of two units that cover the basics of contraception, pregnancy prevention, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
STIs
Objectives:
- Classify STIs, including HIV, by type of infection, mode of transmission, and if they are curable vs. treatable
- Describe strategies for reducing the risk of contracting STIs, including HIV
- Discuss sexual and reproductive health issues specifically STIs/HIV, from a medically accurate frame
- Discuss STIs, including HIV, using destigmatizing language
Contraception and Pregnancy Prevention
Objectives:
- Explain methods of pregnancy prevention
- Describe barrier, hormonal, and non-hormonal methods of contraception
- Discuss contraception and pregnancy prevention from a value-neutral, medically accurate framework
