About Us

HCET fills the gap between training, education, and practice. We support direct service providers so they can deliver high quality care.

HCET's mission is to provide comprehensive program development, education, and training to improve reproductive and sexual health outcomes.

Policies, Practices, program delivery, and systems that support the fundamental right to reproductive and sexual health care, training, and education for all.

HCET is an organization of passionate people who are proactive in their belief that access to evidenced-based, medically accurate reproductive and sexual health education, training, and care is a fundamental right.

Statement on Dobbs vs. Jackson Women's Health Organization

At HCET we work every day to provide training and support to the public health workforce that provides reproductive and sexual healthcare and education across the Midwest.

The US Supreme Court decision in Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization last Friday ended the federal protection to legal abortion and takes private reproductive decisions out of the hands of patients and their trusted providers.

This ruling will harm people and communities in states that HCET serves. Many of our communities in the Midwest are already impacted by restrictive abortion regulations and have little or no access to high quality, medically accurate sex education and comprehensive contraception options.

HCET will continue to work collaboratively with our partners to make sure they can provide high quality reproductive and sexual healthcare and high-quality sexual health education to all people.

Our Story

In 1994, Health Care Education and Training (HCET) was formed out of the belief that all people should have access to high quality family planning and reproductive health care and education, regardless of their income and geography. These services and programs should be provided by clinicians, educators, and other professionals that are receiving the best training and support available. HCET fills the gap between training, education, and practice. We support direct services providers so they can deliver high quality care tailored to their agency and community.

With offices located in Indianapolis, IN and Madison, WI, HCET’s work is focused in the states that surround the Great Lakes (IN, WI, IL, MN, MI, OH). We are continuously expanding as we find new partners, advance the integration of reproductive and sexual health into new sectors, and focus on finding “what works” through impactful program evaluation and moving data to action.
