Human Growth and Development During Pregnancy and Early Fetal Development Through Ultrasound Videos

Purpose

Health Care Education and Training (HCET) developed the Human Growth and Development During Pregnancy and Early Fetal Development Through Ultrasounds videos as optional resources that may help schools satisfy statutory requirements around human growth and development education. These videos were initiated by changes to Indiana education requirements and may be applicable in other states. The videos were designed as medically accurate instructional tools that educators can confidently use as part of their approved curriculum when this content is taught.

Who is the Audience?

This resource is intended for educators responsible for delivering human sexuality or health instruction, and for the students receiving that instruction.

Who Developed and Reviewed the Video?

The video was developed and reviewed by a multidisciplinary team that includes OBGYN and maternal-fetal medicine, advanced practice nursing, pediatrics, social work, and health educators.

HCET Video and Legislative Requirements

The HCET video is an option that directly addresses Indiana’s legislation by providing a clear presentation of human growth and development during pregnancy. The content explains biological processes using medically accurate information and visual representation so that students can understand how pregnancy progresses from fertilization through prenatal development.
