Presenter
Burton Patterson, MSW
Project Manager, Health Care Education and Training
Burton is a social worker by trade who began his professional career providing case management and counseling services to systems-engaged youth. Following this experience, he worked in a residential setting with adults affected by mental health concerns, substance abuse, and homelessness. Working with vulnerable and marginalized populations fueled Burton’s passion for social justice. Motivated by a desire to see more men use their voice and privilege, Burton began working with college-age, male-identifying folks on college campuses across Indiana. He developed a curriculum, called Speak Up Speak Out Project (SUSOP), geared towards engaging young men to redefine masculinity and eradicate rape culture and sexual assault. Burton joined the HCET team in April 2022 as an adolescent health project manager. He is thrilled to bring his direct service experience to HCET and community partners.
