HCET’s STD/HIV training projects are implemented in collaboration with state, local, and national agencies. All projects supported by HCET strive to destigmatize STDs/HIV, provide evidence-based prevention strategies, and ensure community-based providers are accessible and highly skilled.

Wi Salt

HCET coordinates SALT, a statewide network of family planning, STD, and laboratory program staff and providers. The SALT team meets bi-annually to increase, share, and promote knowledge of STD testing, treatment, and intervention methods from experts in each field.

Gonorrhea Anibiotic Resistance

HCET is the training partner for the Wisconsin Department of Public Health's STD Control Section on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded project, “Strengthening U.S. Response to Resistant Gonorrhea” (SURRG). Nicknamed GARP at the Wisconsin level, this project provides funding in Wisconsin to identify, analyze, and respond to resistant gonorrhea infections.

Gyt 400 X 400

The GYT campaign is a youthful, empowering social movement to encourage young people to get tested and treated for STDs and HIV. HCET leads this campaign in Wisconsin by providing training and technical assistance to local health departments and community based organizations to provide outreach and access to youth friendly, confidential, convenient, and low cost STD testing and treatment


EPT was signed into Wisconsin Law in May 2010 to enable physicians, physician assistants, and certified advanced practice nurses to prescribe, dispense, or furnish medication for STDs to partners of patients diagnosed with trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia without conducting a physical examination of the partner. HCET supports data collection and sharing for this project.


DIS are the backbone of HIV & STD Prevention. DIS assure all patients who are infected, or have been exposed to an infection, are notified and treated. HCET is an avid supporter of DIS and provides opportunities for training and professional development to those working in this crucial public health role.

Isdh Chlamydia

HCET works with the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) Chlamydia and Gonorrhea Screening Program to promote STD testing and treatment services at local health departments and community based organizations throughout Indiana. HCET provides agencies with training opportunities, social media support, outreach, and communication strategies to increase access to testing and treatment.
