What Works in Adolescent Sexual Health Programs

 
Science-based approaches to teen pregnancy, STI, and HIV prevention
Designed to empower nurses, health educators, clinicians and counselors to provide strategies for adolescent health programs that have been found effective in preventing teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and AIDS.

 

The Culture of Family Planning

 
This module was based on interviews with a diverse group of individuals involved in family planning throughout the state of Wisconsin. Information was gathered from nurse practitioners, nurses, clinic directors, health educators and seasoned professionals. These interviews emphasized four core fundamentals of the culture of family planning: Confidentiality, Education and Information, Options and Choices, and Cultural Competence.
 

 

Family Planning – The Basics

 
The Basics is intended to provide an introduction to basic information on family planning and reproductive health. This module is particularly useful for staff providing family planning services.

The 3-part learning module was designed to provide family planning professionals with an understanding of the costs of providing services, developing appropriate fees, and to be more effective in collecting fees.

 

Prenatal Smoking Cessation Training

 
This interactive web based learning module was designed and developed to empower the health care professional to provide the best behavioral modification strategy for smoking cessations with prenatal clients.

 

RVIPP Self-Study Manual – Chlamydia

This self study manual is designed for clinic staff at infertility prevention sites to provide information on the history and purpose of the Infertility Prevention Project, a medical overview of Chlamydia trachomatis infection, screening and treatment guidelines, client education and counseling guidelines, laboratory technologies used in the diagnosis of chlamydia, and quality assurance practices. Nursing contact hours and CECH for CHES are offered upon successful completion of manual review and testing. Effective January 1, 2007, the nursing contact hour calculation has changed to a 60 minute hour instead of a 50 minute hour as dictated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, thus the nursing contact hours available for the manual will now be 2.0 rather than 2.4."
 

Continuing Education

HCET is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Indiana State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

HCET is a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc.
